Minars or tall towers are usually associated with Islamic architecture. It was constructed bhy Sultan Al-ud-din Bahamani (Ahmad Shah II) in 1435 AD in memory of his victory over Gujrat.The Iranian style minar is simple externally & internally. It is constructed of stone & was decorated with colored tiles which were stuck on the walls (some of which are still visible).It has 4 floors with helical stairs inside. For every floor there are 80 steps & 6 ventilator windows. After every floor, a circular balcony is present. At the base there is a 24 "arched chamber without any decorations.On one side of the minar there is a mosque, & on the other a Naqar Khana.The minar served as a watch tower & also a place for call for the prayer.The minar is colored brick-red now, & can be seen from large distances, standing like a sleepless sentinel in front of the pyramidal hill with the Daulatabad fort on its top. garmin edge 305 reset
